Face Painting Ideas
Face painting ideas are exciting if you are looking for a rewarding hobby, that anyone can do.
Ideas are endless if you have a good imagination. Think like a kid. There is nothing better for this topic, than a young childs mind.
For face painting ideas, craft stores are a good source. They have many stencils and face painting patterns you can use. These tend to work well for a professional look.
Always use a good quality water based paint, which can be
purchased at your local hobby shop as well.
Don't use older paints, especially if you are working with young children. You'll want to purchase new ones if your paints are 1 to 2 years old, or have sat unused for a while.
You can also have cheap new supplies, since inception of the dollar store.

Preparation
Wash and dry the area to be painted. Test a small spot first, as some people may be allergic to the paints. Wait about 1/2 to 1 hour before proceeding.
Check for open cuts or scrapes. These areas should not be painted.
If your subject is a child, decide on a face painting idea or pattern. Pick your colors and set everything up. They tend to squirm alot and figure you should finished in 5 Minutes.
Give them a hand held mirror so they can track their progress.
I prefer water based paints, as their easy to clean up and you don`t pose any risk to you, or your subject as your applying them. You also don't need to use cream on the face if you're using a them.
Baby wipes can be handy to have on hand, as they can be used for mistakes and clean up.
Face Painting Ideas and Suggestions
If you have a large area that's all one color, use a sponge. A sponge spreads the face paint evenly. After you're finished, just use soap and water for clean up.
If you are face painting more then one person, have extra sponges. Never use the same one on more than one person unless it is cleaned first.
Use paint brushes for lines. Always use a continuious line for outlines and breaks in color. Don't sketch as if drawing on paper. Try not to stop midway, it will look broken up and jagged.
Let colors dry in between coats to save colors from bleeding together. If you want to make darker colors, let the first color dry, then apply the second coat.
If it's your first attempt at face painting, practice on your arm just to get the feel of the brushes. You may feel silly, but this may save a kid from complaining that you're taking too long.
Most of all have fun. Remember to take pictures and videos. It`s great to look back on a great memory!
