Picnic Food Ideas





These are some of our favorite picnic food ideas for a wonderful and successful picnic.

A lot of them have been passed down from generation to generation. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.


Potato Salad

8 - 10 potatoes 6 hard boiled eggs 1/2 an onion 6 - 8 radishes 2 stalks celery

1 1/2 cups mayonnaise 1 1/2 Tblsp. mustard 2 Tblsp. sweet pickle juice dash of salt and pepper

cayene pepper to sprinkle on top

Peel potatoes, cut up and boil until soft.

Let them cool, then cut into bite sized pieces.

Chop onion, radishes and celery into small pieces.

Cut up 4 eggs as well, leaving 2 for decoration.

Add to potatoes.

Mix mayonnaise, mustard, pickle juice, salt and pepper together in a small bowl.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until blended.

Slice the last 2 eggs into 4 slices each and arrange on top.

Sprinkle with a small amount of cayene pepper.

Refridgerate until ready to use.

Serves 8 - 10.


Fruity Ambrosia Salad

Picnic food ideas:

1 small can mandarine orange slices, drained 1 large can pineapple chunks, drained 1 can fruit cocktail, drained 1 small bag of mini marshmellows 1/2 bag coconut flakes 2 cups prepared whipped topping

Mix all ingredients together in a medium size bowl.

Let it Cool in the refridgerator until you're ready for your picnic.

Serves 6-8.


Macaroni Salad





3 cups of dry macaroni 1/4 - 1/2 cup onions 6 -8 radishes 2 stalks celery 1 cup cooked frozen peas 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise 1/8 cup water salt and pepper to taste

Cook macaroni according to instructions.

Let it cool, then place in a bowl.

Cut up veggies and combine with macaroni.

Add cooled peas and mix well.

Mix mayonnaise with water, salt and pepper.

Add to the macaroni.

Cool until ready to use.

Serves 6-8.


Zesty Pasta Salad

2 cups rotini pasta 2 cups mushrooms, halved 1 cup cherry tomatoes, quartered 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped 1/2 - 3/4 cup ceasar dressing 1/4 cup sliced green onions

Cook pasta according to package directions.

Drain and rinse under cold water and let cool.

Meanwhile, combine all the ingredients.

Add to macaroni and toss lightly.

Chill until ready to use.


Picnic Sandwich Ideas

Picnic food ideas:

Peanut butter and jelly (always a #1 choice for kids)

Ham, cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and butter

Deli meats, cut up pickles, tomatoes, mushrooms, sprouts, mustard and mayonnaise Bologna, cheese, lettuce, mustard, butter

Egg(cut up), onion, mayonnaise, salt, pepper

Salmon or tuna, onion, celery, mayonnaise

Or make your own combination.

My husband actually likes peanut butter and relish and peanut butter and a slice of cheese.

The possibilities are endless.


Raw Veggies and Dip

Cut up:

Carrots, Celery, Mushrooms, Radishes, Peppers, Cauliflower, Brocolli, Purple Cabbage, Onions,

Place in small plastic containers.

Use your favorite dip to add pizazz.
