Unclog Toilet

Unclog Toilet:

Your toilet is clogged again! Let's unclog it.

Whether it's one of the kids toys, or a case of too much toilet tissue, it's a dirty job and know one really wants to tackle it.

With most of the problems being toilet paper related, there are many quick fixes you can try on your own. You don't need to call a plumber.

Using A Plunger

If your toilet is clogged, don't attempt to flush it again. This will only cause an even bigger mess. Don't reach for chemical products either, as they will have little effect.

Your best bet is a good old plunger. The one to use is the ball type, usually black. These are made specifically for toilets.

Make sure there is water in the toilet, if not, add some. Place the plunger in the bowl and push down several times. (Watch out for splashing) If the clog has been removed, there should be a drop in the water level.

If the water does not drain out of the bowl, continue plunging. Once the water level has gone down, take the lid off of the tank and flush again. If the water rises too high again, close the flapper quickly, so you don't get flooded. Your toilet is still plugged.

Using A Toilet Auger

Unclog Toilet:

Place the auger in the toilet and crank it clockwise pushing forward until it feels tight. This means you have reached the obstruction. Move it up and down, side to side and try to remove the obstruction. Pull the cable back and repeat several times if needed.

If this method didn't work, you may need to remove the toilet and turn it upside down to see what's causing the problem.

Always make sure you turn off the water source before removing.
